Hello,
The club is proud to announce that after only 6 months we have already reached our yearly goal of 100 members. Our newest member, John Russell of Premier Trailer Leasing, pushed us to the 100 member mark. Jeff Provow – Membership Chair – has done an outstanding job and we are going to keep pushing until all companies in the transportation and logistics industry are members of our club.
Secondly, through the first half of 2010 we have enjoyed record participation at all of our functions – sold out the Inaugural Dinner at Bistro Aix, had 94 golfers for our Spring Golf Outing in March, not only did we sell out but we had to have an extra table brought in for our National Transportation Week Luncheon in May and for our most recent outing, July arena football with the Jacksonville Sharks, we had 89 people attend.
The club is also proud to announce that we have reinstated our scholarship fund to the University of North Florida and have become even more active in our community by becoming partners with the Red Cross and the Ronald McDonald House. It is extremely exciting to be a part of the positive momentum that we generated so far this year and rest assured we will make the second half of 2010 is just as fruitful.
In the near future, all members will have a chance to help keep the club growing and viable by joining one of the club’s committees. We will be sending out via email a list of the club’s committees, please fill out what committees you would like to serve with. With your continued support, we will make The Transportation Club of Jacksonville the best it has ever been.
I want to thank everyone who participated in our outing to Transportation Night with the Jacksonville Sharks. Great win by the Sharks – they clinched their division with the win. We had a great turnout, 89 people attended!! It is always a great time seeing all the “old” members and it was great seeing new members at our outings. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. For those of you who could not attend this time, I think this will become an annual event for the club. Make sure to mark it on your calendars for next year.
I want to send a big thank you to our sponsors for the event and the tail gate party before the game – ARL and Interdom Partners. The Transportation Club of Jacksonville is truly gratefully for your continued support.
I also want to thank the Jacksonville Sharks for donating a Sharks football and jersey that will serve as door prizes for our Fall Golf Outing on September 23rd at Eagle Landing Golf Course.
Finally, the club’s next outing is going to be on August 12th at River City Brewery. It will be a luncheon from 11:30 am to 1 pm with guest speaker Mr. Ron Barton, Director of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission. Mr. Barton will be speaking on how and what the city is doing to help lure more businesses and companies to the area. You can RSVP for the luncheon here.
